Ciaran Reilly & Associates recently designed and commissioned a ground investigation in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, to support the design of a training pitch for a local GAA club. Due to the sloping site, there was to be a deep cut at one end of the sports field and a significant depth of fill at the opposite end. The investigation was carried out to determine if the cutting would be in glacial till overburden or if it would encounter bedrock, to provide information on the potential reusability of the material excavated, and to establish other required geotechnical parameters for the proposed works.
